Evergreen
Treatment Services and the University of
Washington are collaborating in the START Study -
Starting Treatment with Agonist Replacement
Therapies. The study is comparing the effects of
buprenorphine/naloxone and methadone on the liver.
You may be eligible to participate if you are 18
or older, are seeking opioid treatment at ETS, and meet
other study requirements. If you are eligible, you
will receive either buprenorphine or methadone
treatment at no cost. Compensation
will be provided for your time and effort.
Treatment will last up to 32 weeks. For more

case management services to all clients of the HIV
Enhanced Engagement Team, or HEET. HEET offers
outreach, engagement, case management and housing
assistance to homeless persons living with
HIV/AIDS in Seattle. For more information,

Jackson, ETS Executive Director, was presented with the
Nyswander/Dole award by Dr. Beny Primm at the 2003 conference of the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence in Washington, D.C.
The prestigious award is named for Drs. Nyswander and Dole, who developed the concept of methadone maintenance as a treatment for opioid dependence. It is given to individuals who have been recognized by their peers for making an outstanding contribution to the field of opioid treatment.

consensus panel for the development of a new
prescriptive manual o n
the delivery of medication-assisted treatment to
individuals suffering from opioid addiction.
